An Executive Decision!

Because I am, after all, this blog's only executive.

I am sick of having a Weird is the New Normal contest running with no end in sight. However, the end date has been spotted, chased down and affixed to my sidebar as a trophy.

Peach! It is all on your shoulders now. The contest officially ends when you choose to send moi those photos, (which I am sure are awesome). If you need me to, I can add the words. You have been warned. This is a guilt trip.

Wait, let me try this approach. Peeeaaaaach? Would you... if it isn't, you know, too much of a strain, maybe you could, sorta, send those reeeeaaaally cool picturesyou took for my contest???Pleeeeeaaaaaaase?

For the rest of you, this means:

A. Peach will immediately send the photos and the contest will end and I'll re-post all the entries.

B. (Much more likely, [no offense, Peach]) Peach will keep feeling guilty about this but will also keep forgetting to send them. =D And you all will have lots of time to make your own photo and send it in. For more details about it, check my sidebar.

Sphinx Schooling

Yup. It happens to be that time of year where people start school, so I thought I would share some pictures of us doing school last year:

That's right. Our school consists of making Sphinx faces for Egyptology.
Giles:

Bracie:

If you study ancient civilizations, eventually you come across the tale of the Sphinx.

I think Mom deserves an A.

There you have it, folks. These are all the pictures I have received for the contest. And I was thinking, if you have a picture, but don't want to email it, then post it on your blog, and comment me with the link. That would work marvelously.

Greetings!

I am back from camp! Hopefully I shall put together some of the (few) videos I took while there sometime (soon.)

Going away and not being able to access technology for a week has increased my enthusiasm for blogging. Absence makes the heart grow fonder!

And I know you've all been working on your Weird is the New Normal photos while I was gone, right? RIGHT? RIGHT???? I have Daddy's picture already, and I think I am going to post entries as they come. What say you?

Thirteen is a blessed number

Ha!
HA!!!
We can fit thirteen people in one Taco Time booth. We are also very good at convincing waitresses to take pictures for us. My family is on the right, and the H's (pronouced with a distinctive Scottish accent, especially because this picture was taken after the Highland games) are on the left. I am the one in the back with the cheesy grin.
Anywho, can you fit thirteen people in one small booth?
P.S. Bracie is being self concious of the fact that her head is blocking about half of the family. So she says sorry.

I want!

I must have a fish agility training set! And a putting billiards game! And an oilless turkey fryer! And a museum precious metals cleaning plate! I want them NOW!

Not. The weird thing is: I found everyone of those items on the same page of a catalogue.

Ophelia Pretends to be a Ghostly Spectre

I fairly certain "Ghostly Spectre" is an oxymoron, but I am calling it a literary technique.

Anyhow, these pictures are solid proof that I have learned to make lemonade when life hands me a lemon. The specific lemon is my camera's incapability of taking a picture less than 3 seconds after I push the button. So one day, having been infected with a spirit of optimism, I got out the camera and, finding it near impossible to take a good picture, decided to take some silly ones.
This is me dissolving into flame like a comic book character. Oops, I just gave away my secret identity. Ah well.
Further along in stages of turning into a firebrand.

Here I am as a ghostly spectre.
Here I am in the act of immaterializing, which is a very tricky business to catch on camera.

I think I bear a resemblance to the evil queen's mirror in Snow White. I like how my head is floating off my shoulders, but I think that my blue shirt rather draws from the effect.

And I can't exactly recall what I was thinking at the moment this photo was snapped.

There you have it, folks: Ophelia actually, voluntarily taking pictures of herself! Never mind that she's pretending to be a ghostly spectre or that her head appears to floating above her neck...

Weird is the New Normal

Alrightly, having accustomed myself to the idea, I am now setting up a Weird is the New Normal contest.
Like nearly any contest, this contest has numerous and extensive abstruse rules. They are as follows:
Section I.
Chapter I.
Paragraph I.
Every picture must fit in the generally accepted guideline uh, um, "G."
Paragraph II.
The picture must bear the inscription, "Weird is the New Normal" (Surprise!)
Paragraph III
The deadline is June 17. Just because seventeen is my favorite number.
The End of the Rules.
The Pictures are to be sent to weirdisthenewnormal@gmail.com. (Another Surprise!)

Contest?

I am thinking about holding a Weird is the New Normal picture contest. How insanely awesome would that be, especially because I can't find several of my pictures owing to the recent layout change?

Of course, it's merely an idea, as of yet completely metaphysical. Or would it be figurative? Mental? Ideological?(Am I even spelling that right?) -that can't be right. Ah well.

I infinitely prefer "Ah well" to "Oh well." It is my apprehension that optimists say "Ah", which the sound of rather conveys a note of hang-it-all-and-who-cares-we'll-be-jolly-anyway, whereas "Oh well" seems to drown in woes and remain shrouded in the dark despairs of doom.

But back to the physical, literal, substantial, solid possibilities of a photo contest. How would one go about it? What requirements ought I to inflict upon the gentle readers, presuming I did have a contest? I suppose that somehow I would have contestors post a link to a particular photo bearing the words, "Weird is the New Normal." That is the essential requirement.

So, on my behalf, do post a comment and state your opinion-whether you think this is a good idea.

No time like the present!

'Twas called to my attention this evening, that the date today reads:

5. 7. 9.

That's pretty awesome.

But what effects does it have on you, gentle reader?

Well, in all honesty, none whatsoever except that it gives you a very good excuse to stay up late.

5. 7. 9. 11:13

In which we clean our room

So, today Bracie and I began the systematic dismantling of our room in order to switch bedrooms with my mom and dad. We came across some unnecessary artifacts and decided to dispose of them in a stress relieving, unconventional manner.

As usual, we had way too much fun.

Poetic Attempts

Some people; they play hard to get.
I'm playing hard to want,
And ain't nobody got me yet,
That is my challenge taunt.

I'll grow myself a uni-brow,
And pack some extra pounds.
I'll never cut my toenails now.
I'll always make disgusting sounds.

Perhaps I'll never brush my teeth,
Or use deodorant.
My hair will poof; a fuzzy wreath.
Yes, I'm playing hard to want.
